2.6 chat issues header

This last weekend after the release of RIFT 2.6 has been, well, kind of rough for RIFTers to say the least. The update caused a myriad of issues, and the most frustrating was undoubtedly the loss of all in-game chat channels and mail systems throughout a large chunk of the entire weekend. This made everything from raiding and grouping to socializing, immersive quest undertaking, and leveling Dream Weaving with the help of an alt army quite the challenge.

Pithos and Daglar were both around randomly over the weekend to give us updates during shard downtime periods, but the majority of the issues didn’t get fully fixed until Monday morning. Daglar issued an apology over the forums yesterday and told the RIFT community that all players affected over the weekend would be receiving chests of 160% boosts for putting up with the weekend’s issues. These chests should be delivered during this Wednesday’s patch. Keep reading to see the full details.

As many of you know, we’ve been having some issues with the chat system. Because of these issues, coupled with the extra downtime associated with the fixes and troubleshooting – we’ll be sending out several “Sorry” chests to all users that have been affected.

I know that giving you three chests with 160% boosts does not make up for having your game experience affected – but I hope it shows that we do care. The chests will be claimable on every character on your account for the next two weeks once they are implemented.

The engineering team is still hard at work locking down more fixes and updates.

Thank you for your understanding in this manner, and thank you for your continued support of RIFT.

Last Friday’s live stream also had a bit of sad news in it. Elizabeth “dahanese” Tobey has left Trion Worlds for a community position elsewhere. She posted her goodbyes on the official forum as well as her personal blog, sharing some of the highlights from her years at Trion and well-wishes for the community and the company. We wish her well and thank her for everything she’s done for the community.

We also found out that Greg “OverloadUT” Laabs will be handing over the live stream reigns to another member of the Trion community team. It’ll be interesting to see how the community responds to these changes and to any new community staff members the company decides to hire.

Finally, we found out a bit of good news during the live stream itself. Hartsman himself showed up and had a few good things to relay about development on ArcheAge. The team recently received a new build and is anxious to release more information about the game as soon as they can. As we know from before, the game recently opened up for friends and family testing.

Daglar answered a few questions about RIFT, but not much in the way of anything new was revealed. He did mention that the team is looking for a way to increase the difficulty/complexity of invasions and zone events, etc. Many of us fondly remember the days of RIFT‘s launch when zone invasions would barrel toward Sanctum/Meridian and take over quest hubs that made them seem a little more dangerous and a lot more dynamic. We’ll have to see what Trion has in store for us!
